Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM)

EPDM is a type of rubber seal material which offers excellent resilience against solvents, antifreeze and aviation hydraulic fluids such as Skydrol and has an operating temperature range from -54 to +150 deg C (-65.2 to +302 deg F).

EPDM O ring seals are used to join pressure containment components together by compressing the seal with a threaded, clamped or a bolted flange connection. EPDM is also used as the seal material in cable glands for submersible pressure sensors when the standard O ring seals such as FKM or Viton are not suitable for the fluid.

EPDM is the preferred seal material for use with drinking water by the water companies because it does not encourage microbiological growth, absorb essential ingredients from the water or degrade and release material into the water over time.
