Identification of Incomplete Units by Infrared Light Curtains
In the machine industry, after completing the welding cycle, the assembled components are transferred to particular bins, and from there, they are ready to be sent to the customer. The whole batch will be rejected if the unwelded parts fall into these bins and eventually reach the customer. Manual inspection of assemblies is impossible. As a result, we need sensors that detect such components, preventing economic loss to the manufacturer.
The requirements of the sensors used for this purpose:
• Compact design
• Reliable detection of parts with fast movements
• Not rising the process cycle-time
• To be cost-effective
Solution:
Infrared light curtains, developed for use in high-reliability safety systems, are the solution.
Features of the solution:
• Short response time
• Ability to detect tiny items
• Easy mounting at ends of the transport bin, due to their compact design
• Connection to the customer's PLC through flexible PVC-sheathed cables
• A highly cost-effective solution for a potentially costly problem
Other features:
Light curtains don't need a direct connection between sender and receiver. It means that integral connectors provide easy removal and replacement of single units.
The system senses any object passing through the light curtain. It also instantly needs the PLC to confirm that the welding cycle has ended since the detection of the previous item.
If no welding cycle is registered, the system cuts the process off and sends alarms.
