Ensure unparalleled precision and reliability in your pressure measurement with this product from Siemens SITRANS P320 series. This versatile pressure transmitter boasts exceptional accuracy, robust construction, and user-friendly features, empowering you to optimize process control and achieve peak performance.

Body

We understand how crucial a transmitter's body is for long-term performance. That's why the SITRANS P320 is built to endure even the toughest conditions. The core components are constructed from high-grade stainless steel (316L and CF3M), renowned for their exceptional resistance to corrosion and wear. This ensures reliable pressure measurement for years to come, even in harsh environments with extreme temperatures or chemical exposure.

The separation membrane, also crafted from 316L stainless steel, provides a robust barrier between the process medium and the internal measuring cell.

We haven't overlooked the finer details either. The gasket between the sensor and housing is made from NBR, a resilient material that provides a tight seal and prevents leaks. The filling liquid within the measuring cell is silicone oil, chosen for its stability and ability to transmit pressure effectively across a wide temperature range.

Finally, the multi-segment display with four pushbuttons offers clear visibility and easy operation, even in low-light conditions and with fluctuations in ambient temperature (-20°C to 80°C). The SITRANS P320 is built to endure, so you can focus on what matters most – optimizing your process.

Configuring Pressure Units on the SITRANS P320: A User-Friendly Guide

The SITRANS P320 offers the flexibility to display pressure readings in various units, catering to your specific needs. Here's a simplified guide to navigate this process:

  1. Navigate to the parameter view.
  2. Select the "Pressure units" parameter.
  3. Press the â–¶ button.
  4. Select the desired unit with the â–² or â–¼ button. The pressure measurement is converted to the new pressure unit.
  5. Use the â–¶ button to confirm.
  6. Navigate to the "Pressure reference" parameter.
  7. Press the â–¶ button.
  8. Select the specific pressure unit for your application (absolute pressure, gauge pressure, none) with the â–² or â–¼ button.

Important Note: If the converted pressure measurement exceeds five digits after unit selection, the display will show "#####" to indicate overflow.

By following these simple steps, you can effortlessly configure the pressure unit on your SITRANS P320, ensuring that pressure readings are displayed in a format that aligns with your specific needs and application.

Calibrating Your SITRANS P320 for Precise Pressure Measurement

The SITRANS P320 empowers you to tailor its measuring range to perfectly suit your specific application. Here's a breakdown of the process, ensuring you achieve optimal performance:

Setting the Measuring Range (Without Applied Pressure):

  1. Navigate into the parameter view.
  2. In the parameter view, set the "Lower range value" parameter.
  3. Press the â–¶ button.
  4. Enter a value within the measuring limits with the â–² and â–¼ buttons.
  5. Use the â–¶ button to confirm.
The lower range value is set. Note that the upper range value does not move automatically.
  6. Navigate to the "Set upper range value" parameter.
  7. Enter a value within the measuring limits with the â–² and â–¼ buttons.
  8. Press the â–¶ button.
  9. Set the lower range value with the â–² and â–¼ buttons.
  10. Use the â–¶ button to confirm.
The upper range value is set.

Important Reminder: The SITRANS P320 safeguards against setting a measuring span (difference between upper and lower ranges) that's too small. If you attempt to do so, a "FAILD" message will appear. Ensure your chosen range provides sufficient resolution for your needs.

Applying the Measuring Range (With Pressure Present):

Now, let's assume your SITRANS P320 is already mounted with pressure applied:

  1. Navigate into the parameter view.
  2. Select the "Apply lower range value" parameter.
  3. Press â–¶ the button.
    The existing pressure is displayed.
  4. Use the â–¶ button to confirm.
    The wizard starts.
The wizard ends with the "COMPL" message.
  5. Navigate to the "Apply upper range value" parameter.
    The existing pressure is displayed.
  6. Press the â–¶ button.
    The wizard starts.
The wizard ends with the "COMPL" message.

Important Safety Note: The wizard will display a "FAILD" message if:

  • The applied pressure falls outside the measuring limits of the instrument.
  • The chosen measuring span is below the minimum permissible range for the sensor.

By following these steps, you can confidently configure the measuring range on your SITRANS P320, ensuring accurate pressure readings tailored to your specific process requirements. This level of control empowers you to optimize performance and achieve superior results.
