Preventing Floods Using a Wireless Level Monitoring System for River Water
In recent years, the incidence of extreme weather has increased and this leads to heavy rains and probable floods. For this reason, wireless monitoring systems have been designed to measure river levels and take flood prevention measures. But using such systems faces challenges. Challenges such as the fact that their alarms do not sound in time and do not have adequate traffic for the field survey. "River water level wireless monitoring system" consists of a transmission layer, a sensing layer and the application layer based on wireless communication technology. The transmission layer includes a remote monitoring terminal which gathers water rain information and wirelessly sends it to the server. The sensing layer includes sensors like ultrasonic level probes and tipping bucket rain gauge which detect rain and water. Application layer refers to a big data platform and seamlessly connected third-party platform.
When the system senses the river level reaching the alarm threshold, it sends a warning email, thus alerting the relevant authorities to the flood risk. This device is equipped with a solar panel and a battery. Solar panel is needed to supply remote monitoring terminal energy.
Thanks to its wireless remote transmission technology, solar power supply and the ability to be installed onsite, this system is an efficient system for flood prevention, does not have the problems of other monitoring systems, and its manual inspection time is shorter.
